My journey began at home. I asked my dad to give me a lift to the station but his car was out of order and I had to go by public transport. I came to the bus stop and got the bus.

When we arrived at the station there was a really long queue at the ticket office, and as I hate standing in a queue I got my ticket from the ticket machine. Then I rushed to the plat­form and got on to the train. Fortu­nately my train had been delayed, and so it was running late. If it had been on time, I would have missed it.

The train journey was not too bad. I managed to get some sandwiches and some coffee from the dining car. There were four of us in the compart­ment, and we were chatting all the way. So I had a great time.

My train arrived in London. Then I had to get the underground to the airport. I had to go three stops along one line and then change. The train was packed. I wanted to read a book but it fell out of my hands. While I was looking for it I missed my station, and I had to return.

When I got to the place, I found the right terminal and got a trolley. Then I went to check in. At the check-in desk I was given my boarding card, and I had my luggage registered, that is weighed and labeled. It was a little overweight and I had to pay extra. I went through security, where my hand luggage was scanned, and through passport control, where my passport and visa were checked. I went to the duty-free shop, and then I waited in the departure lounge quite a long time as my flight was delayed by four hours because of "poor visibility".

Eventually we boarded and then took off. I fastened my safety belt and leaned back wondering what my stay in Greece would be like. There was a lot of turbulence during the flight, and some passengers got very nervous. Some of them felt airsick.

When we landed in Athens, I filled in a declaration form, went through passport control and customs. You can fly to Crete, but it's cheaper to go by ferry. I took a taxi to the port. I couldn't afford a cabin, so I just got a seat.

The ferry took 12 hours and I was seasick. At last we arrived at my des­tination, and I got off the boat. Now I could relax. But the thought about my way back made me feel a little nerv­ous.
