Tourism in UkraineAn important part of people’s lives is the opportunity to travel, the ability to see new countries and cultures. Ukraine can cater for most people’s tastes as there is so much variety of locations and attractions. Ukraine takes part in international tourist exchange. It is a comparatively small country occupying a favourable geographic position in the center of Europe. The most popular tourist regions are the Crimea, Prychornomorya, Podillya, Volyn and such cities as Kyiv, Odesa, Lviv. Ukraine is among those countries that use their natural resources intensively. There are about 200 thousand cultural, historical, architectural and archaeological monuments, places and parks and more than 300 museums in Ukraine. The most important of them such as Kyiv Pechersk Lavra and St. Sophia Cathedral have been included to UNESCO’s registers. Tourists might be interested in visiting places connected with lives of prominent figures in history and culture. Tourists have a good opportunity to come closer to Ukrainian folk culture, songs, dances and cuisine. Tourism is one of the important factors that can help get Ukraine’s national economy out of the economic crisis, increase the revenue returns, replenish the state budget, positively affect the state of things in many branches of the national economy. Ukraine has a good potential for developing tourism: excellent geographical and climatic conditions, historical and cultural resources. There are over 125 thousand archeological, architectural, historical and other monuments and hundreds of museums in Ukraine. So, welcome to Ukraine! Meals Most people have three meals a day. They are commonly named breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also know people who eat twice or once a day. From my point of view, it’s too little. They explain it very simply. If you eat often, you’ll be fat. I can’t agree with it. You can eat lots of food one time or little food several times a day. I prefer the second variant. As far my own experience is concerned, I eat at least three times a day. I always have breakfast – my first meal of the day. I usually feel bad if I don’t eat something for breakfast. At the weekend I like to get up late and have a good breakfast of scrambled eggs, or pancakes, or something like that. But on weekdays I'm always short of time in the morning. So I just have a cup of strong tea or coffee and a couple of sandwiches. As I spend a lot of time at the university it's necessary to have a snack at midday just to keep me going. That's why I have to go to the canteen to have lunch. But I enjoy my evening meal at home. My mother is a wonderful cook and her dinners are always delicious and various. To begin with, we usually have some salad - - tomato and cucumber salad or mixed salad (I like it very much). For the first course we have some soup — noodle, mushroom or cabbage soup, or maybe some fish soup for a change. For the main course we have meat, chicken or fish dishes, for example, steak or fried fish with spaghetti or potatoes (boiled or fried). We also have a lot of vegetables — green peas, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers. I prefer meat to fish but my mother makes me eat fish from time to time. She says it's good for my brains. For dessert we have some fruit, fruit juice or just a cup of tea with a slice of cake. On Sundays we sometimes go to restaurant or some cafe. But unfortunately we can't afford to go there very often, because it's rather expensive for a family. The quality of food is also very important. I prefer good food which is rich in vitamins and I enjoy cooking healthy food.
